how is Nurik being paid to defend Scott Rothstein? Howcome Rothstein has money to pay for a defense yet the firm's client's are left without counsel. this is crap.

Vic Tobin is another one of Mr. Rothstein's supposed "good friends," so it will be interesting to see how he handles the Receivership. I like to see a judge with a heart, but when my clients go bankrupt, they generally do not receive the same level of sympathy from the court, or a priority setting on their motions. I guess its "good to be the king" even when the king is wearing no clothes (or should I say no custom made designer suits).

Maybe seems like something that would not always happen, but if a (big) firm goes down, for the benefit of the clients it does seem prudent to warn judges that there is more to the failure to appear or in motions that maybe filed on emergency basis. If reports are true the FBIs are there, it may be difficult to take the files out of the office for pending hearings. Ultimately, no one wants the clients to be (futher) victimized.

Tow trucks are starting to tow very expensive vehicles right now. This is not pretty.

Pulp, why do you think Tobin's e-mail is incredibe? I looked at the RRA website, and looking at the lawyers there, it seems like Tobin has reason(s) to give them preferential treatment. Names like Dishowitz, Birken, (Judges sons or daughters I believe) It must be nice to get insider help from the Chief Judge.

Consider what he said: (1) Motion is being filed (smart lawyers called ahead); (2) set the matter today (nothing wrong with that) considering what is at stake; (3) receiver needs to marshall assets asap (true). How does this help SR?

If Tobin had not done that, AND this had set into drift for a few days because judges either recusing themsleves or naturally "too busy" to hear important matters, then everyone would be screaming he knew about it and didnt do anything (and alleging he didnt do anything because he was friends with so-and-so) allowing assets to dissipate. Seriously, get a grip. Everyone loves a conspiracy plot but stretching it because he says get on this asap.

The point is that the firm is collapsing, clients deserve to protect their assets given to the firm, those entitled to the assets (Creditors or otehrwise) should have confidence that a firm which has so demonstrably shown an inability to manage itself does not let the assets disappear, and all this should be done quickly.

I wonder if this dude is still threatening people. I wonder if this dude has the temerity to threaten an employee of a large national law enforcement agency like he did to so many others.

I would pay anything to see that!

I cannot wait until the FBI gets into the whole Broward County School Board and starts looking at where the money went, who voted for what and who got what jobs where.

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that a lawsuit was filed against Rothstein by his law partner Rosenfeldt.

Please post when you get a copy of it.

It looks like Mr. Rosenfeldt sued his best friend Scott today....maybe the case will be assigned to Judge Tobin.

The Rosenfeldt v. Rothstein lawsuit was assigned to Circuit Court Judge Robert Rosenberg, who I hear is is a good friend of Stuart (but not Scott). I guess we are going to see a recusal here since I can't think of any judge at the courthouse that would want to touch this hot potato. Maybe Governor Crist will appoint a special judge from outside of Broward to hear the case, but then again, that would give the appearance of favortism towards his good buddy Scott. What a tangled web he wove.

Nothing wrong with what Tobin did. All he did was inform judges to be patient in case RRA lawyers dont show so that their clients aren't affected. Frankly, I would think that appointing a receiver would be exactly what Rothstein doesn't want, and so Tobin's email kind of works in favor of the innocent lawyers and clients at RRA, not Rothstein.

Tobin is the scum of the earth for getting involved, particularly since it is a known fact that Tobin and Plaintiff Rosenfeldt are very close friends. Tobin is disgusting.

How about if Tobin instead said "do not give this case priority because it is not an important case."....any ethical problems with that scenario? The Judicial Qualifications Commission needs to look into this unethical conduct.

OMG, I just read Tobin email. PULP INQUIRE MORE OF TOBIN. Tobin says he "learned of something yesterday." From whom? Then he states what he learned: "Rothstein, Rosenfeldt and Adler will be asking us to appoint a receiver..." Who would know this information other than someone directly related to the firm? Then he INSTRUCTS the judge who gets the case "to set the motion today because of the amount of clients and money involved." Again, who would have this information, other than someone directly involved with this case? He then INSTRUCTS all judges that 'have a case with the firm to be patient because I don't know if the lawyers will come or not and if they do come THERE IS NO MONEY AT THIS POINT TO GO FORWARD WITH THE CASE OR PAY THE FIRM EMPLOYEES." How did Tobin know this very detailed inside information? Tobin finishes the email with additional INSTRUCTIONS as to how the judge should rule (although his use of the English language is nursery school like): "They need a receiver appointed a quickly as possible to marshall whatever is left of the assets." WOW, MORE INSIDE INFORMATION was given to Tobin. WHO WAS TOBIN TALKING TO AND WHO IS HE TO TELL JUDGES HOW TO RULE IN A CASE?

Ok, its not Tobin's case, but as the Chief Judge, doesn't his order to help out the RRA lawyers carry alot of weight? And who should be entitled to whatever money RRA has left? The RRA lawyers? Their clients? Other creditors? Why should the Chief Judge take a position on this (he seems to think its the RRA lawyers?), and then ask other judges who might get those cases to give RRA the edge in court? I don't think this sounds right.

Gee the judge acts as if he has a stake in this! Interesting.

Judge Tobin, by virtue of this email, cannot now preside over the statewide grand jury. In addition, the Rothstein firm has given him campaign cash. Good grief.
