He's Back: Scott Rothstein Has Returned to Fort Lauderdale From Morocco (UPDATED)
Multiple sources say that Scott Rothstein has returned. One source says Rothstein flew into Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and is planning to head to the law firm right now. One sources says he has money to return.
| The plane Rothstein flew in on. |
Fort Lauderdale police officers in black SWAT uniforms and bulletproof vests surround the Bank of America building on Las Olas Boulevard where the Rothstein firm is located. News media are also there. Traffic is stopped on Las Olas.
It's a circus.
UPDATED: Because we have the best commenters in South Florida on this site, we now have the flight plan. Rothstein flew to Fort Lauderdale from, yes, Morocco's Mohammed V International. We reported here Sunday that he was in Morocco (he was later rumored to have flown from Morocco to Venezuela, which looks doubtful at this point). Here's the

This is scuttlebutt and scuttlebutt alone: I hear that Rothstein is now with his attorney, Marc Nurik, in a car. Sources say that his former partner, Stuart Rosenfeldt, requested the police presence and that he doesn't want Rothstein entering the firm. Word is that Rothstein is looking to strike a deal with the feds and that a chip in the negotiations my involve TD Bank, which apparently held the accounts holding investor funds.
Anyway, here's an ode to the G5 ("no more frequent flier bitch miles for my boy"):

How can Scott return the money....Chief Judge Tobin already said the firm is broke and instructed the judges to "marshall the assets."
Mr. Tobin, what should the judges do now? Please give us updated directives after you conduct more ex parte communications.

Mr. Tobin, what should the judges do now? Please give the judges new directives after you make a couple of phone calls to whomever you spoke to the other day.
I am almost tempted to run over to the RRA offices before Rothstein gets there to see what $100 million looks like. Do you think he'll need an extra suitcase for all that cash?
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 1:36PMAre there any web live feeds of this? Want to see if he returns to his office. Will he use the super secret back door?

My bet is Nurik struck a deal for him w/ the feds.

We know the first part of that is true. As for the second part, you can bet an FBI agent or two has taken an interest. Tags: accountants, Bernard Madoff, fraud, Ponzi scheme, Scott Rothstein 1 comment(s) / Post a Comment The Enablers says:
In addition to the Firm's COO Debra Villegas, the initials might want to speak with Irene Shannon, the CFO. From what I have been told by some former RRA employees, each of them worked in the private area of RRA's offices where no one else was allowed to go and they were isolated from the other employees because to their unnaturally close relationship with the Avenger. I guess they will soon find out the heavy price of being loyal to a jerk like Rothstein. Hopefully he is bringing back some money for them to post bail and hire attorneys.

The good news is we will no longer have to look at Scott's fat face on the jumbotron at Landpuke Stadium.
I want to see all the sorry dumb clucks who handed this parasite their money to invest.
And how could *no one* else at the firm have known something was very very wrong. Are you telling me Rothstein managed all the paperwork, all the funds, himself, with no one else helping? Come on!
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 2:22PMDidn't Judge Streitfeld reset the receivership hearing for this afternoon? I bet Rothstein will make a court appearance today...

I am not crowing. I am just being me. Which, in you haven't figured out by now, is acting like one egotistical motherfucker.
The pings from Morocco was yesterday, mid evening, around 9pm EST.
Like Tom Francis says, there's no defintive way to track this IP to SR. But, man o man, it's really coincidental and I don't believe in coincidences.

I tried (and failed) to get a number for the tower over at the Executive Airport. If we could snag a tail number for the Gulfstream, we'd be golden.

Even though of us far removed from him / his business could smell that something was wrong! You didn't have to be an employee or directly connected to him to smell it.
It's that everybody - every investor, every hanger on, everyone who benefited from him (including the charities) - preferred to look away. How do you say no to so much money?
Everyone can cry all they want now, but he was too good to be true for a long time, and those of us way down low in the sphere of scott-dealings could see it. If we were ignored and there's a price to be paid for that now, too bad......

My diagnosis of what will some become known as the Rothstein Syndrome:
What we have here is a classic mother-indulged Bi-Polar personality fueled by large amounts of Bolivian Ego Dust backed up by a chorus of sycophants.
As if annointing himself the Jewish Avenger wasn't a clue....
All of which suggests this sleazoid's planning one hell of an entrance worthy of a Bad Taste Gotterdammerung.

2. The Jewish Avenger spent three days wandering the streets of Casablanca looking for the local Chabad, before realizing Morocco was a Muslim nation.

This is very interesting but I still don't understand what started this chain of events. Was some money found to be missing? i.e. why wasn't Rothstein's trip abroad deemed to be what his attorney said, a business/vacation?
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 5:30PMIt appears that investors began clamoring for their money and it wasn't there. The U.S. Attorney's Office was contacted. That's the general story, but I don't know know the specific trigger or how it went down yet.
His attorney never said he went on a business trip or vacation, by the way. Nurik said he left to "clear his head." Basically, he fled the situation and he fled it all the way to Morocco. Now he's back and says he's going to pay the piper, so to speak.

How many undocumented flights left Morocco while scott's plane remained there?

I don't talk to him anymore but I'm sure a simple google search will lead you to his prison cell. (He also couldve given you some good advice as to how to run a proper ponzi scheme since his lasted more than 40 years..yours lasted for 7).
2. Please give Kim my contact info. I heard she's a little "dime piece" who can make a great martini...also tell her that I have about 20 mill left so she'll still live a nice life and won't have to serve wings at Hooters again. (Tell her to pack that outfit anyways). We have a few of them in the big apple so if something does happen, she can make some easy cash on the side if she'd like.
3. Why the hell did you come back? You're guilty as hell and are going to prison...for a very long time. You must really suck at hiding money cause we have lots left overseas.
4. I once saw you in McDermotts one night and laughed at the sight of you. Nice shirt, sweet hair..where was your diamond/hoop earring? I then laughed even harder when someone told me you were the new "hot shot in town." To be honest, I almost crapped my pants cause it was so funny. Everyone knows theres no one who just pops up in South Florida like that. haha. Its still a very old school place and you can't act the way you did.
In closing this letter to you, in the words of Nicky Santoro in Casino "You're just one of those guys who the Feds were begging to make an example of and they will." You're far from a gangster my friend...more like a telephone tough guy/cavone for threatening this blogger for speaking the truth. (for the non-Italian readers, google the word 'Cavone"...it fits him perfectly.)
Rule about Gangsters...they keep to themselves, drive one car, live in a modest home and stay out of the public eye in fear of any unwarranted attention. Why do you think all the old timers hated John Gotti, Scotty? You're a clown sir. Good Day...
PS: Make sure you let Kim know where to find me.
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 7:18PMMr. Norman:
Do you have further ideas as to
"Who Killed Melissa Britt Lewis", murdered attorney of the Rothstein Law Firm,
now that this information has surfaced?
Just maybe she knew too much and this was a hit to keep her quiet?
No longer looks like a spurned lover attack does it?

Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 7:19PMRothstein didn't show up and Streitfeld did what the firm wanted: Put it in receivership with the judge listed below. Now the receiver makes all the financial decisions and Rothstein is officially out of power.
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 7:48PMPlease no more breaking news or updates- at least for a while...I have a "play" date with my friend Bud scheduled in 15 minutes and will be away from the computer for a couple of hours!
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 7:56PMI personally know that Scott has a closet full of striped suits, so he'll have no problem fitting in where he is headed - although he may have a problem sitting down for a while, but he'll get used to it.
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 9:03PMSo the Sun Sentinel is saying he was contemplating suicide now...
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 10:14PMBob - Rothstein bought Melissa Lewis' family houses after he ordered his goons to murder her.
Scott and sweet, little, innocent Kimmie - Was Melissa's life worth one extra year of driving the big white Rolls down Las Olas?
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 3 2009 @ 11:29PMFor all of you people saying that the New Times' reporter's were wrong, its been confirmed all over the news.
And, RIGHT ON Mark Madoff!
Posted On: Wednesday, Nov. 4 2009 @ 6:39AMScott was just playing Robin Hood and So Flo was his Sherwood Forest. He was robbing from the rich to give to the poor. Now that is a stimulus package in action. Cars, real estate, boats, jets, Bovas, et al. The man was genius. Pure effin genius. Love it when the greedy, never have enough, elitist bastards, get taken by one of their own. So ironic. Maybe that happens to victims who don't earn their money the old fashioned way. Oh wait, that has always been the way to get an unfair share. How will Danny Boy, D Wade and Alonzo pay their bills without the Scotty funny money endorsement deal?
Posted On: Wednesday, Nov. 4 2009 @ 8:09AMRRA and Rothstein also have a sports management company called RRA Goal Line Sports -- so there is probably going to be a number of NFL players looking for new agents... today. It will be surprising if a lot of the high profile athletes he was involved with didn't get shafted too.
Posted On: Wednesday, Nov. 4 2009 @ 9:35AMScott is a God-complex wielding egomaniac who tries to contol and manipulate the actions of his own family members. Kimmie's right in there as well. If they don't get their way, there's hell to pay!
Posted On: Wednesday, Nov. 4 2009 @ 5:13PMI think the G-5 was rented but if no one wants the Bugatti, I will take it!
Posted On: Wednesday, Nov. 4 2009 @ 8:07PMCome on people, anyone who really thinks they could resist a lifestyle without any restrictions is sick in the head. With that kind of cash, I for one would have stayed in Morocco and smoked some of the finest Moroccan Hash available. I would also like to have had Dr_Augusta along for some "play" time as well. Bring your Bud along, let's make it a real party.
