From the Capital Grille, this is Scott Rothstein being greeted by the staff there and being served a martini. It's not earth-shattering, but it's him at about noon today.

One thought: When he told me he believed that his investors would get their money back today, I didn't think of the obvious: TD Bank. Everyone now is pointing the finger at Frank Espinosa, the TD Bank executive who oversaw Rothstein's accounts. You know what they say about banks. It's where the money is.

Defendant agrees to pay $5MM per month for six months. A group of investors forms and agrees to pay $18MM for the stream of income of $5MM for the next six months. So many unbelievable aspects to this "deal". 1. $30MM settlement without filing suit. 2. Agree to accept $5MM per month (huge risk of non-payment) 3. Ability to convince defendant to accept a 40% discount on their settlement? I think the commenter was "John" a ways back who hit the nail on the head. The "investors" knew it was a Ponzi scheme and were all in cahoots. Orrrr... as I think somebody else suggested, this was a Federal sting operation to catch some bigger bad guys.
