Not Nikki, but a fellow Doberman
Nikki, the Doberman Pinscher-turned-spokesdog, did not die in vain. The dog whose rescue five years ago was featured on Animal Planet's Miami Police series, died of cancer Sunday. But in the five days since, 270 people from around the world have signed this online petition in support of anti-chaining laws.

That became Nikki's cause after her first owner was found to have kept her chained by the same collar for so long that it actually became embedded in her flesh.

Nikki's Law, as it became known, passed this summer in Southwest Ranches. From one Nikki to another... thanks for giving us a good name.
