A Peek at O.J. Simpson's Trash, Courtesy of a Local Bounty Hunter

Categories: Celebrities, Crime
Last week's New Times cover story features William Staubs, AKA "Cobra," a Fort Lauderdale bail bondsman with a Forrest Gump-like knack for getting involved in high-profile cases. One of his best jobs was a stint shadowing O.J. Simpson after the football star was arrested for attempting to steal sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room. Simpson posted bail and returned to his Miami home, where Cobra was tasked with keeping an eye on him, to make sure Simpson didn't run.

The first thing Cobra did was pull Simpson's trash -- partly to keep tabs on the defendant and partly to get footage for a Spike TV deal he was pursuing at the time. And what a gold mine it was. As the video shows, Cobra dug up everything from pubic hair to a singing Christmas card.

"We got rubber gloves of O.J. Simpson here," he says at one point. "Hope he didn't kill nobody."
