Buyer Snatches Up Madoff Home in Montauk; Bidding War for Palm Beach Digs?

This month, when Bernie Madoff's three homes went on the market, it was anyone's guess as to whether their link to the convicted swindler would be regarded as a curse or whether it would add to the home's mystique. Folks with $10 million to spend on a home can afford to be choosy.
But now we've learned that Madoff's Montauk home has sold for more than the $8.75 million listed price, suggesting there was a bidding war. There could be another one for the home in Palm Beach. From that Bloomberg article:
"We really just started showing," said Burt Minkoff, one of two Florida-based Corcoran Group brokers picked to handle the sale of the Palm Beach home at 410 North Lake Way.
Minkoff said there have been 15 showings of the property, which is priced at $8.49 million. An open house for brokers on Sept. 15 brought 120 agents, he said in an interview. The Palm Beach house still has most of the furniture and artwork, which are being sold separately.
