Video of Cobra's Takedown of an Alleged Child Molester

Categories: Crime, News
In this week's New Times cover story, "Cobra's Last Stand," Fort Lauderdale bail bondsman William Staubs, AKA "Cobra," gets arrested for false imprisonment during his search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. The confrontation that caused all the trouble was caught on video by independent, Atlanta-based journalist Art Harris.

In the video, Cobra is trying to revoke the bond on Daniel Snodgrass, a 55-year-old from Putnam County who had been arrested for capital sexual battery two years earlier, accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl who came to him for unicycle lessons. Cobra suspected Snodgrass might have been involved in Haleigh's disappearance, because he had been seen trying to donate furniture to a center that Haleigh's family set up to look for the child.

There's a dispute, however, as to whether Cobra was authorized by an insurance agency to revoke Snodgrass' bond. In the video, you can see Cobra cuffing Snodgrass, then releasing him, after receiving a call from the head of the insurance agency, C.E. Parrish.
