Rick Lemack, who finished a close second one year ago in the Democratic Primary for Broward Sheriff, is now one of five candidates to be police chief of Gainseville. Lemack was previously an assistant chief in the Hollywood Police Department and an assistant city manager.

But in the year since that primary defeat, Lemack has been working with the candidate who beat him, Scott Israel, at a PI firm, G6 Investigations, Consulting, & Protection Group, along with another ghost of Hollywood Police past, former chief James Scarberry.

And even though Lemack is far removed from the recent scandals that have rocked that department, you can't help wondering whether he held back a giggle when he learned what passes for scandal at Gainesville PD (from the Gainesville Sun): "off-duty officers were caught driving through neighborhoods harassing drug dealers and prostitutes and throwing eggs."
