Noted South Florida sculptor Peter Giovenco died Tuesday after a long fight with brain cancer.

Giovenco, who was 37, worked with all types of metals, creating modern industrial-inspired furniture, like the stool and aluminum high heels that graced the cover of Playboy magazine. You can see more at his website.

For that Playboy shoot, Giovenco was on location, grinding material to light up the background.

In addition to his own artistic pursuits, Giovenco is credited with being a fervent supporter of local artists -- their works share space on the walls of his house with big names like Sas and Colin Christian and Skot Olsen.

His funeral will be held Sunday at Fred Hunters Downtown Fort Lauderdale home from 1 to 3 p.m.
