Two men suspected of robbing a 71-year-old man last night in Fort Lauderdale led police on a 30-mile high-speed pursuit into Palm Beach County before being arrested near Woolbright Road in Boynton Beach.

Kyle Smith, 23, and Ivan Camacho, 24, are in custody on charges of armed robbery and resisting arrest. The robbery occurred at Northeast 33rd Avenue, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard, just before 10 p.m. From the Fort Lauderdale Police Department release:
The victim was walking to his vehicle when he was approached from behind by a white male, with his face covered by a t-shirt. The white male pulled out a black hand gun, chambered a round and pointed it at the victim. The white male demanded that the victim's wallet and the victim complied.

The two fled in a silver Honda, which was spotted a short time later on Sunrise Boulevard near Holiday Park by an off-duty cop. But instead of pulling over, the Honda jumped on I-95 northbound and the chase was on.

Fort Lauderdale cops, who were assisted by the Broward Sheriff's Office and the police departments of Boynton Beach and Delray Beach, saw the car veer off the freeway just south of Woolbright, and its three passengers went running. A K-9 team helped round them up -- the two suspected thieves and a juvenile girl who was released and probably should take this cue to make some new friends.

Police found a gun in the Honda.
