Anchors Away: First Cronkite Dies; Then a Silly Poll Sends Him Spinning in His Grave

This past week, everybody's been talking about this Time.com poll in which the Daily Show's Jon Stewart wins most-trusted-newscaster status. Maybe it means that television news networks have become "disaffected" with network television news? Or that Americans are fed up with stuffy anchors who are too deferential to newsmakers.

To their credit, the commentators acknowledge the fine print:
Poll results are not scientific and reflect the opinions of only those users who chose to participate.
In a nation of more than 300 million people, 9,409 voted in this survey. Some probably dozens of times.

So what's the point in even analyzing this stupid poll, especially when the internet makes such a favorable demographic for Jon Stewart? Kudos to you Florida voters who defied the national "trend," casting your ballots for NBC's Brian Williams.

And if we're going to start analyzing internet polls... well, I'll show you one that's just as legitimate but a thousand times more terrifying: a poll in which respondents support bribery in Florida politics, plus the deregulation of elections in a way that would make them more vulnerable to fraud. Check it out after the jump.
