Mayor Michael Sullivan

When Michael Sullivan arrives in Hollywood for good next year, someone should give him a position with the city's Office of Tourism. Because no one is more qualified to see the beauty and bountiful future of an otherwise shabby town than is the former mayor of Lawrence, Massachusetts  -- the city that's been hit harder by the recession than any other in the Bay State.

Judging by this article in yesterday's Boston Globe, there was little a mayor could do to reverse the city's fortunes. Lawrence has been pulled into the same black hole as other cities that depended on heavy industry.

Sullivan is the city's current mayor, but term limits (Can he bring those to Hollywood with him? Please?) will force him out of office at the end of this year.

According to the Globe article, he plans to launch a Boston-themed sports bar. Unless he already has -- because Boston Johnny's on Dixie Highway is fairly new, right?
