Another South Floridian Picked for Home Design Stardom on Cable Show

When Home and Garden TV goes looking for its next Design Star, it tends to find one in South Florida. The same program that made Hollywood cop Mike Verdugo a reality star has selected Nathan Galui of Palm Beach Gardens as a contestant for the show's fourth season.

You can see the tape Galui submitted to the show's producers here. Seems Galui's an unabashed Dumpster diver who takes pride in giving a modern gloss to secondhand materials.

But the last South Florida Design Star can tell Galui about the hazards of reality show fame.

In Verdugo's case, the publicity led some enterprising web sleuths to dig up some bondage porn they claimed was a younger Verdugo. They also found this article I wrote about how Verdugo had allegedly been harassed by his fellow Hollywood cops after they learned he was gay.

The only scandal with Galui so far is his brazen contempt for the design concepts that surround him in South Florida. From Galui's bio:
Being from Palm Beach County, I am critical of the stereotypical Florida home that is often portrayed as an interior clad with rattan and styled with the fashions of Tommy Bahama and Lilly Pulitzer.
