Hey, GOP: Why Not Let Mrs. California Proselytize to Floridians?

One is a beautiful, single, 21-year-old who poses seminude and is prone to tone-deaf, divisive political commentary. The other is a beautiful, married 34-year-old with three children and whose political cause is increasing child literacy. Which of these two would make a better ambassador for a party that needs to make its "family values" message more inclusive in a critical swing state like Florida?

As we all know, the Republicans picked Carrie Prejean, the former Miss California famous for speaking casually, contemptuously about gay marriage. The latter is the reigning Mrs. California, Giselle Uffens, who's interviewed in a San Diego newscast above.

I don't know whether Uffens is Republican -- she's mercifully resisted opportunities to force her personal politics into her pageant answers. But there's a good chance of it, since, like Prejean, Uffens is from the San Diego area, which is a bastion of conservatism in the state.
