D-Wade Makes Buzzer His Bitch

The first time came at the end of the first half. Then again to tie the game at the end of regulation. Then, after he stole the ball from John Salmons with three seconds left in the second overtime, Wade hit a running three as time expired to give "El Heat" a 130-127 win over the Chicago Bulls.

He's been on fire lately all season, and though there are people who will tell you LeBron's and Kobe's teams both have better records, nobody can argue those two are playing better than D-Wade.

His coach may have said it best:

"Mr. Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr., if he's not legitimately considered for an MVP candidate, I don't know what he needs to do," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We are currently a playoff contender and night after night, he's making incredible plays like this."

The theory put forth by ESPN's demur butterfly Stephen A. Smith is that in the midst of a nasty divorce and troubled personal life, Wade is focusing all his attention on basketball. And lines like last night's 48 points, 12 assists, six rebounds, four steals, three blocks, are the result.

Wade has scored in double digits in 78 straight games for El Heat, matching his own franchise record. Who are El Heat you ask? Part of the NBA's attempt to appeal to Spanish speakers. In two weeks the Heat (back to English) will travel to Chicago to play Los Bulls.

Clever.
