• Why should anyone be surprised at this? It happens all the time. Watching an episode of COPS the other day on a PBSO reverse sting operation. After one of the "buys," deputies moved in to apprehend a suspect. The first officer confronted the suspect who offered absolutely, positively no resistence. But here comes a charging deputy, nearly twice the size of the suspect, and drives him into the ground. Clearly no need to do this, but everyone got a big laugh. Of course, it was done for the cameras, but can you imagine what happens when the film isn't rolling. I remember a wise old judge who once told a cop who had his feathers ruffled a little bit to get another job if he couldn't take it.

• I disagree, his attorney must have been amazing just to get him hung jury. Cheers to his public defender, who must be brilliant, good in front of the jury, and bound for excellence.

• That PD who got him a hung jury should have gotten an acquittal.

• Anonymous at 6:32 didn't bother reading the Jaablog post obviously. The PC Affidavit he accuses you of not reading is on a link for all to see. I wonder if 6:32 bothered to read it before he slammed you?

• As a fellow muckraker, let me just say that Bob Norman isn't under any obligation to check the facts. Fact-checking is so mainstream media. This is a blog! Hey, did y'all hear that Charlie Crist is gay?

• wait, are you serious? Youre taking stuff off a blog and reporting it as fact? Did you do you fact checking before reporting this? While it may be true, many things posted on the Blog arent. Did you see a copy of the pc affidavit that you quote from? Did you check with the clerrk's office/jail to see if the defendant really spent 6 months in there? Did you talk to Alvarez?

• God forbid we'd protect ourself on the streets, Bob. Usually you're on point but I disagree with you on this one. So often does the SAO refuse to file Battery LEO charges without us having gross physical injuries that it's become a sad joke in our department. I praise this SAO for standing up and trying to do what's right as people are becoming increasing violent toward the police in this county. Shame on you, Bob for saying that it's alright for those who attack us to do so. -JTS
