Madoff's Web Site Is A Snuff Film

Hey everybody. I've been away (in Jupiter. No, the planet!) and now I'm trying to find out how my $50 billion investment is going. Except the web site of my broker Bernie Madoff seems to be down. Something about a court-ordered liquidation? That doesn't sound good.

Ha, ha, just kidding. I have far too much high-interest credit card debt to have ever given Bernie money. Seriously, though, check out the cached version of his website. It is haunting.

The cruelest passage? I'll go with this one:

In an era of faceless organizations owned by other equally faceless organizations, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC harks back to an earlier era in the financial world: The owner's name is on the door. Clients know that Bernard Madoff has a personal interest in maintaining the unblemished record of value, fair-dealing, and high ethical standards that has always been the firm's hallmark.

What a ruthless bastard.
