Rush's Babe, Stacy Ritter, Gets Radio Show

Ethically challenged Broward County Commissioner Stacy Ritter is debuting her new Saturday radio show on WFTL this weekend. She is quoted in the press release:

"I want people to be informed about local Broward County issues. Syndicated talk show hosts know nothing about us. They don’t live in Broward County; they don’t work here; and they have little knowledge of what’s important to us. That’s why I think a talk show that allows us to address all issues from a local perspective is necessary.”

Nice string of semi-colons, Stace. Let's see. What's important to Ritter? Oh yeah, voting for and helping companies that have ties to her lobbyist husband and his firm, Dutko, Poole & McKinley. If you don't share my opinion that she's dirty, read this and this and see if you don't change your mind.

High-faluting issues aside, the reason for her getting the show is obvious: She's a Democratic hack who says stupid things that might drum up attention for the station. Like recently proposing that the county fire WIOD, AM-610 as the official station because it runs Rush Limbaugh's show. That prompted Limbaugh to call Ritter a "babe," based on her official photo, which has an early 90s retro feel that looks to be at least a decade old.

WFTL, which once seemed to really want to bring back quality local radio, has proven an abject failure in that regard and during the past few years has been little more than a blight on the South Florida airwaves.

But don't worry, Ritter's no radio personality. She used to have an abhorrent radio show on WINZ with semi-disgraced former state rep Ken Gottlieb called "Inside The Donkey." That didn't last and neither will this insignificant little Saturday ditty.

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) – Broward County Commissioner and former Florida State Representative Stacy Ritter debuts her new talk show this Saturday, August 11th on News-Talk 850 WFTL. “The Stacy Ritter Report” will air every Saturday at 10:30am.

Ritter was recently thrust into the worldwide spotlight over comments she made about Broward County, FL, selecting a radio station to be the county’s “Official Emergency Information Station.” That station aired “The Rush Limbaugh Program” and Ritter, a staunch activist and progressive, didn’t think it was a good idea. "They have every right to speak, but we don't have to do business with them," said Ritter.

Limbaugh, on his radio show, called her “a babe.” “Yes, I heard that Rush Limbaugh called me a ‘babe.’ I wish I could say ‘ditto,’” says Ritter.

Ritter is nearly a South Florida native, moving here from Washington DC in 1974 and graduating from Piper High School in Sunrise. She is an experienced radio host, with 2 years under her belt at another Miami area radio station.

“I want people to be informed about local Broward County issues,” says Ritter. “Syndicated talk show hosts know nothing about us. They don’t live in Broward County; they don’t work here; and they have little knowledge of what’s important to us. That’s why I think a talk show that allows us to address all issues from a local perspective is necessary.”

Ritter was often a spokesperson for the Democratic Party while in Tallahassee over her 8 years as a representative. Her fellow party members knew she had no problem voicing her liberal viewpoint! She plans to be the same way, outspoken, on the radio.

“The Stacy Ritter Report” allows me, and others who share my point of view, to have a voice,” says Ritter. “Believe me I’ve learned that sometimes when you speak your mind, you get worldwide attention. Other times, no one hears a word you say!”
