Bush Digs Hastert

Categories: Uncategorized

George W. Bush just lent his support to House Speaker Denny Hastert, saying he's a father and cares about children. Yeah, but too bad Hastert cared about the GOP power base a little more.

This L.A. Times story was linked below by a commenter. It paints a picture of Foley as one skeezy, creepy mf-er. Somebody make sure Brian E. Crowley reads it. The commenter is right, by the way: Why is the Post and Sentinel getting spanked (and not in the way Foley likes) on this story so soundly?

Alongside the story, this poll question is asked:

As the Foley scandal reverberates on Capitol Hill, do you think House Speaker Dennis Hastert should resign?

- Yes. He can't credibly lead an investigation that will inevitably look into his own inaction.
- Yes. He should have resigned a long time ago, but not over Foley.
- Maybe. It depends on how much he knew.
- No. He didn't act because there was no conclusive evidence of misconduct by Foley until ABC News' report.

The overwhelming results so far after the jump.
