NFL players do tons of charity work, but much of it is very obviously orchestrated by the player's team or by the player's agent / publicist. Holmes' effort rings with sincerity.
He hasn't lived in the Glades for seven years, and it's such a depressing place -- the report said a third of the population is jobless -- you almost couldn't blame him for moving his family out and never looking back.
But as we told you last week, Holmes has tattooed his hometown's nickname -- "Muck City" -- on the back of his hands. So every time he reaches into his wallet to retrieve some of the $8 million from his current contract, he's reminded of his roots.
