Then, Moz announced he would, that fall, embark on his last tour
Frankly, we're sick of him toying with us by this point, but he's
tossing us a couple bones in early 2009. First, he's releasing a new
album, Years of Refusal,
in February -- good if you're a solo Moz fan, a nonissue if you're a
Smiths purist. Second, he's embarking on yet another extensive U.S.
tour -- and the press releases circulating through the usual
blogosphere suspects (Brooklynvegan, Pitchfork,
etc.) show an initial date on Feb. 28 at Mizner Park, again. (Why?
Morrissey wears suits onstage!). Thats good ... but don't get too
excited yet.
Here's the weird and uncertain part though. While the official press release circulating through the rest of the blogosphere says he is, indeed, going to perform that South Florida date, click on his official web site, and the tour dates begin with the Sunday, March 1 date at Orlando's Hard Rock Live. Ticketmaster, as well, shows no ticket presale information for the Feb. 28 date either.
What gives? Does someone out there who's a more hardcore fan than me know what
s going on? Morrissey's usual tour publicists have no further information right now either. Ugh! Crossfade will fill you in as soon as we get clearer details.
Cross your fingers, but don't get your hopes up -- oh, if you're a Morrissey fan, you're doubtless used to all kinds of heartbreak anyways. If you don't want to chance it, ticket presales for the Orlando dates go on sale through Ticketmaster on Dec. 19.
