Last Night: Seraphic Fire at the Arsht Center

So I am a sucker for Christmas, and the Seraphic Fire's Friday night
concert at the Arsht Center made the season for me. Messiah --
particularly the hallelujah chorus, was sublime.
The small orchestra and beautiful voices organized by Notre Dame professor Patrick Quigley and partially funded by the Knight Foundation has added a whole dimension to Miami music since the bankruptcy of the Florida Philharmonic in 2003.
The orchestra, which was added this year, was particularly striking not only for its strings, but for the trumpets....who ever heard of a small orchestra like this with SUCH MONSTER HORNS!!!????
If you get the chance, check em out...Because they have returned Miami classical music to its striking place in the forefront.
