Continued from Part 1:
"Young Nudists at Sunsport Gardens Naturist Resort Reveal More Than Bare Asses"

A 29-year old ginger with a low ponytail, Chris, came in from Washington State, where he and his wife help organize Vita Nuda, another naturist organization. Annette, as it turns out, is a 21-year old student from Westin who grew up getting naked with the family. She was at this Spring Bash with her brother and twin sister, their seventh bash. "It's not a big deal in our family," she said matter-of-factly, "I'd say we're very liberal... I guess." And we all laughed.

Chris clarified that whole point in coming here isn't about getting undressed in front of people, but rather it allows you to do the things you can't do at home naked, "It's not so much about being in public, it's about being able to do other things." They can play volleyball (again...), swim, and watch a band. We then discussed the uselessness of bathing suits.

Young Nudists at Sunsport Gardens Naturist Resort Reveal More Than Bare Asses (NSFW)

Naturists playing Twister.jpg

The drive out to Sunsport Gardens, a family naturist resort near Wellington, was an exercise in endurance. Finally off the Turnpike, one thunderstorm later, and somewhere near the Everglades, I passed a sign for a gun show, drove by a Starbucks and Jamba Juice. You know, swamp necessities. Not long after what seemed to be the last Publix on the Earth, I made a right turn onto a well-kept dirt road that led to the place where naked people play.

Loxahatchee Groves is, surprisingly, quite lovely. Where you'd think trailer parks squatted on gnarled plots of land, there are mostly plant nurseries and ranch-style homes with groomed but voluptuous greenery. The area is also about a million miles away from wherever it is that you live. After what felt like three hours, but was realistically two miles, I reached their gate, monitored by surveillance cameras. Behind it, I was the weirdo in a bathing suit with hangups trying to score a conversation with younger nudists here for the annual Florida Young Naturists' Spring Bash.

That's right, folks; the Iron Man 3 production has wrapped in North Carolina with plans to head south to the FTL, Dania Beach, and surrounding areas. Are you freaking out yet? Don't worry; we had to reread the news a few times before letting it completely settle in.

Rookie Mag Editor Tavi Gevinson on Jimmy Fallon: Five Best Moments

tumblr_ma7jrlRRWE1qhub34o1_500.png
Rookie Mag editor Tavi Gevinson is undeniably cool.

She got her start in the fashion industry at the ripe age of 11, building one of the most influential cultural blogs around the web. More recently, the tiny fashionista launched an online magazine fit for very hip teenage girls. She's hilarious, articulate, and just what this new generation of teenagers needs.

Last night, Gevinson sat down with Jimmy Fallon on Late Night to discuss the launch of Rookie Yearbook One, the fashion industry, and most importantly, how to do "bitchface."

Check out our list of the five best moments from the episode after the jump.

Jon Bon Jovi's Family Pasta Sauce Bongiovi Meets Our Sarcasm and Taste Buds for a Tough Taste Test

Categories: Off Topic
IMG_5475.JPG

"It smells like Bon Jovi in here," my friend said as he walked into the kitchen. And that it did.

On the stove, the pop rock god's family pasta sauce was bubbling away, giving off the faint aroma of a superstar. My friend added, "Will the sauce have unnaturally beautiful hair?" or something of the like. The answer is, no. No hair was in or on the sauce.

It's not like BJB and I are super homies, and he just swung by my crib before his first solo show tonight at Hard Rock Live. Nah. Rather, his family is slinging his great-grand mother's gravy recipe actualized in a bottle. The product is called Bongiovi after his actual family name (you didn't think he was born with a badass name like Bon Jovi for real, did ya?).

Though the sauce isn't being sold yet in Florida, our lovely managing editor at New Times Broward Palm Beach ordered the full trio of flavors sold online. We offered up the palettes and sarcasm of ourselves and friends for a taste test. Though my editor'd already slurped down the Arrabbiata, we snagged the marinara and garden style. What follows are a few opinions on the Bongiovi family goods.

MTV's House of Style Returns; Five Best Musical Fashion Moments From the Archives

MTV might not be bringing back hours of endless music videos -- you know, 'cause that would make sense -- but it is revitalizing the once-popular '90s series House of Style. Did you know that the show that showed us how to dress like riot grrrls and tough Sporty Spice was on for 11 years? How time flies and fashions change.

Kicking things off will be a launch of an online archive full of video clips. MTV caters to our nostalgic side by releasing the documentary House of Style: Music, Models, and TV on August 7. And finally, on September 6, at the MTV Video Music Awards, the network will announce the new host for the series relaunch.

As we take a few guesses at who the lucky person will be -- one of the Geldof sisters, Charlotte Free, or maybe Kelly Osbourne -- take a look at our favorite videos featuring an X-Girl, a Beastie Boy, and some spicy ladies from the House of Style archive.

Does The Hunger Games Deserve the Harry Potter and Twilight Treatment?

mockingjay-movie-poster-fan-made1.jpg

Recently, Hollywood filmmakers are splitting up book-based movies faster than Scientology is splitting up marriages. Just yesterday, it was announced that Mockingjay, the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy, is going to be made into two separate films. Our response: Holy Twilight-copying-Harry-Potter hell!

It's no small wonder that Lionsgate has decided to do the ol' part-one and part-two deal with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. This is an easy way to double profits just when the cash cow is about to go dry. Just look at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts one and two. They made more than $2 billion worldwide. Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 made about $705,058,657 worldwide, and part two is expected to exceed that.

But that's just the money. No movie franchise is ever successful without the heart (the Star Wars prequels don't count; they had leftover heart from episodes IV, V, and VI to drive fans to theaters). So the real question is: What do the fans think?

Make West Palm Beach Your Bitch: A Newbie's Guide to the Area

Sleigh Bells (Respectables 7_9_2010)_-83.jpg
Sleigh Bells at Respectable Street in 2010.
Two years ago, I found myself alone in the coastal territory known as downtown West Palm Beach. Being quite the experienced mover, I saw this big transition as an intriguing challenge, where others may have seen merely a sea of pizza places and tank tops.

The first Friday night of my new WPB life, I leapt into a cab knowing nothing of my surroundings except that there was potential fun to be had on Clematis Street, and damn it, I was going to get me some of it! When asked where I wanted to go, I explained, "Somewhere casual with reasonably priced beer and maybe live music." Although I and the cabbie met with a language barrier, he got the gist and knew to drop me off at a destination that would very quickly become one of my going-out staples: O'Sheas. By the end of the night, I was best friends with the band and ready to come back next week for $3 Car Bomb Thursdays.

For those of you newbies out there who just got into town and aren't sure where to start, check out my WPB insider tips before wasting all your time on Yelp. You too can dominate West Palm Beach! Just follow these five easy steps.

Freaky Friday at Formula Ink: My $13 Friday the 13th Tattoo

Categories: Off Topic
friday13-2.jpg

It's Friday night at 11 p.m., and instead of joining the antics of the typical booze-ridden downtown Fort Lauderdale scene, I've decided to do something a bit different. After a long night at work, I make my way over to get in line for Formula Ink's special $13 Friday the 13th tattoo event.

I arrive before midnight, but there are already dozens of patient patrons in line ahead of me, all craving the taste of ink. For this thirst, there is only one quencher, and owner Holden Ritchison, Gwen Gersich, Mondo Arroyo, and the other tattoo artists of Formula (including Ryan Mallory and Dan TV of Formula Ink 2) are armed with well-oiled tattoo machines, ready to take on the droves of tattoo enthusiasts who await the needle.
