Langerado Music Festival's Sketchy Ticket Refund Policy

The now-canceled Langerado Music Festival's ticket refund system is proving to be just as aggravating as the rest of the event. County Grind contributor Adam Smith posted on his blog today that he's being rewarded for his early faith in the fest with mixed messages regarding when he'll get his money back.

After purchasing early-bird tickets more than three months ago (before the full lineup was announced), Smith writes that he could be waiting weeks after the cancellation to get his credit card purchase refunded.

Langerado Is Canceled -- Which Bands Will Play South Florida Anyhow?

Will Donald Glover, AKA Childish Gambino, still hit South Florida?
The aftermath of the canceled Langerado Music Festival is a sad time indeed for music fans, journalists, promoters, and upstart energy-drink producers who were hoping to expand market share. But let's not forget about the several dozen musicians who now are scrambling to fill a performance gap for the second weekend in October.

And maybe that's what some of the cash-strapped local music fans wanted anyhow instead of biting off $150 for the handful of acts that appealed to them.

We announced yesterday that the Arctic Monkeys are on their way to Revolution instead of Markham Park, and it's suspected that several other bands will follow suit with shows at the area clubs in Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. With the exception of a couple of bands that don't seem to want people to know when and where they perform, we have compiled a list of Langerado artists organized by the likelihood of a local concert.

With No Langerado, Arctic Monkeys Book Revolution Show

This is a picture of some stoked Arctic Monkeys.
Good news is starting to crop up from the ashes of the now-canceled 2011 Langerado Music Festival. The Arctic Monkeys are still planning to perform in South Florida! And they're bringing Smith Westerns along too.

Given that the British alt-rockers had a gig in Orlando on October 7 and one in Tampa on October 9, it's not surprising that the young fellas decided to maintain a stop in South Florida in between.

Four Local Bands Vying to Play Langerado in Last Band Standing Contest

Breaking: Langerado 2011 has been canceled.

Yesterday, revived South Florida music festival Langerado announced the final 15 bands for its Last Band Standing competition. In conjunction with indie MP3 sharing site PureVolume, the band bout pitted 159 upstart acts against each other for an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform alongside festival headliners Death Cab for Cutie, Ween and the Trey Anastasio. The final 15 bands ascended to the second round of the three yesterday by accumulating the most fans and plays of songs on their corresponding PureVolume profiles.

Of the 15 contenders, there are four South Florida acts which we cast our most unabashed biased support towards -- Boca Raton's soulful beach-lovers Mineo, the keyboard-driven Jacob Jeffries Band from Fort Lauderdale, Miami garage rockers Lil Daggers, and Miami pop-punk act Jacob's Ladder. More »

Langerado 2011 Survival Guide: Hotels, Camping, and Travel Tips

Breaking: Langerado 2011 has been canceled.

The return of Langerado, SoFla's favorite little/big festival, is on the horizon. Therefore, it's about time we all start thinking about how we are going to approach this thing. To help you along, County Grind is offering a series of pointers, from experience and thorough research, that will apply to the various stages and aspects of your Langerado experience come October 8 and 9.

In this first edition, we'll start logically by focusing on getting your fest-happy butt to the grounds and finding a place to rest that butt after each day of raging. Having a well-constructed framework and a bit of forethought will allow you to be more free-flowing and spontaneous once the thing is in motion. There are several options for traveling, as well as nesting, and each provides a different sort of experience. Decide what sort of overall trip you're going for, and choose from there. Consider your travel and nesting arrangements to be equally important to your Langerado vibes as the bands that will take the stage.

Langerado 2011 Adds the Heavy Pets, Rachel Goodrich, and More; Seeking More Acts

Breaking: Langerado 2011 has been canceled.

The 2011 Langerado Music Festival has just inserted a little more local flavor to the mix. In addition to headliners Death Cab for Cutie, Ween, Trey Anastasio, Thievery Corporation, and Ben Harper, the bill will feature Fort Lauderdale jam vets the Heavy Pets, who have an extensive touring background and some Bonnaroo experience under their belts. This show comes not long before the Pets release a new album, Swim Out Past the Sun, on October 22.

Another former local, Los Angeles folk/pop singer Rachel Goodrich, has also been added to the bill, along with five other acts spanning different genres from around the country.

This is not the end of the road for bands that still want to rock Langerado, however. Below, check out another initiative the fest is putting on to recruit more artists and the rest of the newly added musicians performing at Markham Park on October 8 and 9.

Langerado Ticket Contest Extended to August 5; Also, I Humiliate Myself

In County Grind's incapable hands, perhaps it should be The Boo Boo Album.
You may have heard that we are giving away a pair of Langerado Music Festival 2011 tickets. To allow busy local music fans to get their entries together, we've extended the deadline until Friday, August 5, at noon. This will allow you an additional week to brainstorm and film a clip that is impressive enough to warrant two weekend passes that would cost you a total of $300 otherwise.

As proof that this is not a difficult process, I filmed a sample entry this morning while eating my cereal. For the sake of everyone involved, I chose one of the shortest songs on hand, Death Cab for Cutie's kinda weepy "Steadier Footing," from 2001's The Photo Album.

Categories: Langerado
Holy crap! So the Langerado Music Festival is really coming back for 2011, and a wildly varied lineup has just dropped.

Headliners for the October 8-9 event at Markham Park include Death Cab for Cutie, the Trey Anastasio Band, Ben Harper, Thievery Corporation, and Ween. And are a couple of those acts going to please the camping crowd above all? Most likely.

In all, 31 acts are taking part in the two-day festival so far. Check out the rest after the jump.

Langerado Festival Lineup 2011 Rumor Mill: Five Unlikely Bands We Hope Will Join

Remember Langerado? That little music festival that could suddenly decided it couldn't anymore after announcing its more-eclectic-than-ever lineup back in 2009 and called it quits. Well, now after a two-year hiatus, it's back. But you knew that already.

Rumors have been swirling regarding the 2011 lineup, but JamBase has confirmed one band that will be performing (probably) for sure: Friendly Fires.

We put our thinking caps on and decided to put together some music math to figure out four additional (hopefully not unlikely) bands that may join Friendly Fires on October 8 and 9. Check them out after the jump.
