8 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Stache, 109 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. No cover. Visit Facebook.
Stache will be opening its doors to some funk on Thursday night to start the weekend out right. Lather Up, a jazzy trio hailing from the Heavy Pets, will be jamming with the bluesy Alligator Wine, featuring Nico from the Funky Nuggets. As for drinks, we can't promise any alligator-themed booze, but there will be $5 old-fashioneds and beers. There's no cover, so enjoy the music and funny animal monikers for free.

5. Kids Record Release Show at Culture Room
7 p.m., Friday, January 23, at Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Admission is $9.95. Visit Facebook.
Local indie act Kids is releasing its second album Rich Coast in style at Culture Room. We recently spent some time with this foursome and found out plenty of interesting facts about the guys, which you can read about here. The band took a lot of time out of everyday life to craft this album, and we're sure you'll find it's worth your Friday night.

This event got our stamp of approval in our Best Of edition when it placed for "Best Nightlife Party" in 2012. All the praise Flaunt received then stands today. To add to the dancing, rocking duo Riot Act will be performing live along with Marvelous Kendall, OZwaldus, JJ Contramus, and Danxiety. And for those in need of a social lube, PBRs are $2 ($1 before 11 p.m.) and Flaunt shots are $3. Now do you see why we like this party?

5. Ladies' Night at Pawn Shop
9 p.m., Friday, January 9, at Pawn Shop. 219 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. Visit Facebook.
Ladies, enjoy the benefits of having two X chromosomes tonight on Clematis with its ladies' night. And, since Pawn Shop doesn't play, it's actually providing complimentary bevs for guys too, until midnight (ladies get free drinks until 1 a.m.). It'll be nice to say hello to 2015 again, and again, the right way: all toasty and with free drinks to toast.

5. B/W Affair: Rabidoux, Brauser, and Keller
Rolando Chang Barrero Fine Art Gallery, 711 Lucerne Ave., Lake Worth. No cover. Visit Facebook.
Still fiending for some local art after Basel? The Rolando Chang Barrero Fine Art Gallery's got your back, and closer to home. The new art space is currently exhibiting work by Palm Beach abstract painter James Rabidoux as well as window installations by German self-coined "cultural instigator" Uta Brauser.

The cool part of Rabidoux's work? There are hidden words in the obscure designs. The exhibition will be up until January 15 and will also continue to be the affordable price of free.

5. Sith-Mas: Star Wars Christmas Cosplay Party
10 p.m., Friday, December 19, at District 15, 15 W. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. No cover. 21 and up. Visit Facebook.
May the force be with you this Friday at District 15's Sith-Mas event. The second annual Star Wars-themed Christmas party will feature dark beats spun by DJs LinderSMASH and Lorenzo DJ Kaos Fernandez and performaces by burlesque gals, hopefully all dressed like Princess Leia!

If Santa Claus and Darth Vader were able to procreate, this party would be their offspring. So what does one wear to this event? A sexy Santa suit with Darth Maul mask to confuse? Probably. We also like the idea of a Yoda adorned with Christmas lights and wreath hat.

5. Morally Suspect, Mentally Unhinged
7 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at UNIT 1, 1202 Lucerne Ave., Lake Worth. No cover. Visit Facebook.

UNIT1 presents an art show this weekend that urges participants and artists to get in touch with their dark sides. The Facebook event page says artists will "unabashedly explore the extremities of human behavior" -- which sounds fun -- and uses word combos like "hallucinatory nightmares" and "bipolar media distraction machine." As part of that machine, we'd love to distract you from your mundane existence and direct you to this very cool Lake Worth hotspot on Saturday night for some serious artwork and serious socializing.

5. The Fort Lauderdale Beach Fall Music Fest
Noon, Saturday, November 22 to November 23, at Da Big Kahuna, 17 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Suite 308, Fort Lauderdale. Free with online registration or with a food donation. Visit Facebook.

The boys of Beach Place music festivals are back. Dave Neri and Colby Taylor are returning with over 12 hours of local live music in plenty of different genres for very cheap. You'll hear anything from hip-hop act Fresha Got The Kush to classic rock cover band Crush jamming out to Rush.

What makes this festival different from the rest is the fact that there will be a food donation for a Thanksgiving food drive. Oh, and if you're thinking of shaving that stache, don't. There will be a Stache Off with with prizes for the winner of the best mustache in honor of No Shave November, the huge viral campaign for men's health issues such as testicular and prostate cancer.

"It's extraordinarily important that we give to the community, and every child deserves food on their plate," says Taylor. In addition, there will be special promotion giveaways by Monster Energy Gaming and Grateful J's.

Artist Daniel Pontet will be painting live at Hollywood's art walk to a drumming circle guided by Jeff Lee, Evan Kline, Adrian Jones and featuring Diego Fuica. The powwow is sponsored by Resurrection Drums and organized by Hollywood CRA. And if you haven't heard before, Pontet paints on the ground... with his feet.

At least his hands will be clean for a high five! Art in Hollywood sounds like more fun than art anywhere else right about now.
