Scary that Stephen Malkmus has now put out more albums with the Jicks than he did with Pavement. This sixth album from Malkmus has him falling deeper into the rabbit hole of lyrical abstraction if the first single "Cinnamon and Lesbians" is an accurate precursor of what's to come.

Alex Turner leads the high energy British indie quartet toward Miami Beach as they support their newest album AM.

The Black Angels and Roky Erickson at Grand Central

The past and the present of psychedelic Texan rock are coming in the near future. Erickson, of '60s legendary psych outfit 13th Floor Elevators, had his musical career halted due to mental illness, but the Black Angels, influenced by his lysergic guitar riffs, are showcasing Erickson's continued relevance on their co-headlining tour.

Happy Mondays at Culture Room

24-Hour Party People is one of the great movies about a music scene. It showcases the "Madchester" of Joy Division and New Order, but the whacked out Happy Mondays steal the show. Now touring with their definitive mostly original line-up, we'll see if there are any long term ill effects from taking too much ecstasy.

MOOV Fest is going on today down in Bayfront Park.  One stage has bands such as the Wailers, the other is all electronic music.
