Losin' It Calls It Quits with Final Mosh at the Talent Farm
Every graduating class of South Florida's hardcore-punk community has provided at least a band or two that manages to break into the consciousness of the national hardcore scene.
Broward-based hardcore group Losin' It was one such act. It has flown South Florida's flag on a national scale in recent years, touring and finding a home in the hearts of hardcore kids with a taste for the cyclically returning youth-crew sound that refuses to go away for too long.
However, longevity in the turbulent world of punk rock and hardcore is a fleeting thing, and Losin' It has decided to call it quits with what has been billed as "The Final Mosh."
The show is stacked with (count 'em) nine bands that will come together to see Losin' It off in style at the band's home base, the secluded Pembroke Pines bastion of hardcore, the Talent Farm.
Included on the bill are Super Mutant, our favorite young grind-core manglers, and Losin' It's brother band, Featherweight, which shares members and has a sound reminiscent of Jawbreaker. We expect the mosh to be hectic and the fashions of the early '90s to run rampant, so it would be best to start shopping now for that perfectly distressed flannel shirt.
We look forward to seeing all of these bands again in two years at the first of what we assume will be many Losin' It reunion gigs.
Losin' It. "The Final Mosh," with Cold Hearted, Increase, Super Mutant, Featherweight, and others. 6 p.m. Saturday, December 21, at The Talent Farm, 20911 Johnson St., Pembroke Pines. Entrance is $10. Call 954-438-3488, or visit thetalentfarm.com.
