Elvis lives!
Another weekend, another anxiety-ridden perusal of the ol' bank accounts. We're heading into the final stretch of September, and we're trying our darnedest to stretch our wallets till the bitter end.

That doesn't mean we have to skimp on our intake of culturally relevant and fun weekend activities. Here at New Times, we're intimately familiar with the phrase "a little bit goes a long way." In fact, we look at it as a way of life.

That said, here's this weekend's crop of the best music- and art-related events to check out around town, and none of them will leave you feeling guilty you went out. We promise!

Hello Elevator. 9 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at the Beat Cup Cafe, 660 Linton Blvd., Ste. 110, Delray Beach. Free. Visit Facebook for more details.
Celebrate the first anniversary of one of Delray's up-and-coming multi-instrumental groups, Hello Elevator. Its sound is a refreshing blend of everything from indie rock, pop, jazz, electronic, classical, folk, and even hip-hop.

'80s Dance Party. With Rebel, Zulu Wave, and DJ Tonx. 10 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at Green Room, 109 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Free. Visit Facebook for more details.
Live local indie bands plus DJ Tonx spinning the best in '80s dance music at the Green Room equals a night of (inexpensive) fun!

Rock-a-Billy Swing Dance Party. With Larry Joe Miller and the Delusions and DJ Ronn "Rolls" Royce. 8 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at Kreepy Tiki Retro Lounge, 2608 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. $5 admission and free parking. Visit Facebook for more details.
Put on your pumps and your pomps, grab a partner, and head down to Kreepy Tiki this Saturday for a night of free-wheelin' fun set to the feel-good tunes of Larry Joe Miller and classic rockabilly jams.
