Five Best Concerts This Week
2. III Points Music, Art, and Technology Festival. With James Murphy, Jamie XX, DJ Shadow, Miami Horror, Hercules and Love Affair, and more. Runs from Thursday, October 3, through Saturday, October 5. Tickets cost $37 to $155 plus fees via iiipoints.com.
Up here in BroCo and PBC, we have plenty of festivals to keep us occupied. Miami, well, that's another story. Festivals seem much rarer down there than the standalone blowout concert. That's why the announcement of the three-day III Points music and arts fest in Wynwood is particularly notable South Florida news.
This will also be the first musical happening of this sort in the burgeoning arts district just North of downtown. The party starts October 3 and continues through the 5th, promising -- besides plenty of live jams and visuals -- film screenings, interactive games, and seminars.
The lineup is pretty impressive, both in the sonic and visual realms. The announcement of DJ sets by James Murphy, Jamie XX, and DJ Shadow made our draws drop. And just this week, the list of exhibiting artists was released, gaining them a hearty nod of the head from us at County Grind. -- Liz Tracy
1. Keith Urban. 7 p.m., Saturday, October 5 at Cruzan Amphitheater, 601-7 Sansbury's Way, West Palm Beach. Tickets cost $25.00 to $54.75 plus fees via livenation.com.
There must be something in the air down under, 'cause they continue to churn out super-sexy star after star. Keith Urban may be a Kiwi, but he's made a name for himself by fusing perfectly with our all-American country sound. After nine studio albums and at the ripe (still sexy) age of 45, it appears this imported country-rock hunk is here to stay.
