I wouldn't dare make any suggestions to the brilliant minds behind the AMC tv series Mad Men. They're doing just fine on their own, blowing our minds each week with witty quips and pitch perfect illustrations of the emptiness of our consumerist culture.

But I couldn't help to notice that this sixth season is taking place in the year 1968, where there are so many delicious opportunities for figures from rock and roll history to intertwine with the ad agency of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Just as in previous seasons where Peggy Olson went to a Bob Dylan concert and Don Draper got turned off by the Beatles going psychedelic, here are some possible musical avenues Mad Men could take in the year 1968.

10. Don Draper sleeps with Nico from the Velvet Underground.

9. Senior partner Bert Cooper cancels his trip to India to study meditation with the Mahirishi short because some long-haired hippies named John, Paul, George, and Ringo make too much of a racket with their musical instruments to get any serious thinking done.

8. Don's ex-wife Betty is about to throw away her daughter's obscene new rock 'n' roll record by the Monkees The Birds and the Bees and the Monkees, but she gives it a spin. Betty finds herself simultaneously disgusted and aroused by the music. She tells her daughter she threw away the album but secretly stashes it in her closet and plays the record when she has the house to herself.

7. After Don's failure to get a meeting with the Rolling Stones to do a commercial last season, Pete Campbell gives it the old college try. In this season, long plot doors keep slamming in his face, but Pete does not take rejection well, leading to the cliffhanger final episode (in 1969) where Pete drowns ex-Rolling Stone member Brian Jones in his swimming pool when he laughs off Pete's suggestion that they record the theme song for a Heinz baked beans ad.

6. Don Draper sleeps with Michelle Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas.
