Party for One
8 p.m. Sky Lounge, Bongos Cuban Café, 5733 Seminole Way at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Call 954-791-3040, or visit

If you're looking to avoid the parties of two this Valentine's Day, Bongo's Cuban Café in Hollywood is celebrating the single life with its "Singles in the Sky" party. The party will feature music by DJ Jarod Farina. Multiple specials are on offer, such as $5 Finlandia vodkas, $2 Cuban tapas, and a free glass of champagne for the ladies. If you're looking to fill up before partying up, the restaurant is also featuring prix fixe dinner packages starting at $35 per person. - Sara Ventiera

"Hated for Loving" Smiths/Morrissey Tribute Night Anti-Valentine's Day Party
9 p.m. Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE 2nd Ave. in Miami. $5. 18 & over.

For every singles mixer and romantic spot, there's an anti-romance party somewhere for the single and loving it, the single and bitter, and even the paired up but un-romantic. This one is a bit of a drive, but Churchill's Pub in Miami is the kind of venue that's worth the trip. See the Morrissey and Smiths cover band Ordinary Boys perform their tribute "Hated for Loving," with Girlfriend in a Coma, and DJ Dracula's Daughter.

No one makes misery more appealing than the Moz.

Friday, February 15

Singles Safari
7 to 9 p.m. Palm Beach Zoo, 1301 Summit Blvd. in West Palm Beach. $35 Advance, $40 at the door.

If you are looking for love this Valentine's day and you like your romance a little on the wild side, check out the Singles Safari at Palm Beach Zoo. It probably comes as a surprise, but the Palm Beach Zoo offers nightlife events like these semi-regularly. It's a small zoo, with plenty of tree covered seating areas around fountains that provide shade during the day and a romantic retreat at night -- rawr.

Saturday, February 16

My Furry Valentine with Hurly Burly All Male Burlesque Revue
10:30 p.m. Five Points Lounge, 2608 S. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. $5. Call 305-803-9014, or visit

Forget alabaster skin and voluptuous curves; the Hurly Burly's eye candy arrives by way of pure testosterone. The troupe will show off its tatted-up chests and fanciful facial hair during Friday's "My Furry Valentine" performance. With tongue firmly in cheek, the dancers -- who come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and body-hair cultivation -- use their senses of humor and masculine charms to entertain an audience that's encouraged to come stocked with single dollar bills and few inhibitions. Aggressive psychedelic rock band Black Seal will provide the tunes for the evening's entertainment. - Tricia Woolfenden
