Cinephiles rejoice! The art-house scene is growing as legendary indie film house, Cinema Paradiso -- home of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival -- expands to a second location in Hollywood later this summer. Join the fundraising event and rub elbows with folks from Cinema Paradiso and the Broward Film Society, eat some munchies and down some cocktails while musing over the artistic renderings of the theater before anyone else. But don't get too sloshed, there's a walking tour down to the site at 2008 Hollywood Blvd.

The department of languages, linguistics, and comparative literature in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is presenting a month long French Film Festival. A discussion will be held afterward for all those wishing to participate. The films (with subtitles) being screened are Le Havre, Les Hommes Libres ("Free Men"), White Material, Film Socialisme, and Le Gamin Au Vélo ("The Boy With a Bike"). - Tana Velen
