Saturday, January 12

7 p.m., Manor Lanes Bowling Center, 1517 NE 26 Street, Wilton Manors. Free. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. at Manor Lanes.

Saturday nights are perfect for not only heavy drinking, but fitting also for a sweet cycle. Put down your stein, grab your two wheels, and get out to Wilton Manors for Fort Lauderdale's growing Critical mass. The 20-mile lounge ride winds its way through downtown making stops at local watering holes before finishing up at Kim's Alley Bar, 1920 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. After the ride, the group will head over to the Courtyard Café, 2211 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors for a light repast. Joining the ride itself is free, but those who buy a round are always extra popular!

Critical Mass advises you to bring bike locks, a head-light, and funds for drinks. They also advise that "RIDING IS RISKi!!!"

10 p.m., O'Malley's Sports Bar, 1388, N. State Road 7, Margate.

If you're flashing ink, it's probably because you like having your tattoos admired. You like talking about tattoos, you like looking at other people's tattoos, and you generally like people who like tattoos.

Apart from hanging out in a tattoo parlor all day long, there aren't too many social situations that will cater perfectly to this milieu. The South Florida Tattoo Social launched last month at O'Malley's Sports Bar by Adam Facenda provides you with a chance to mingle with your inky brethren. This one will be dedicated to the women of the local tattoo world, including Erin O'Dea of Kreepy Tiki, Mel D. of Babylon Tattoo and Body Piercing, Pani Meshkati of Epic Tattoo Studio, Lindsay Collins of Bruce Bart Tattoo, Jordan Calloway of True Love Tattoo Studio, and others. Holly Peno of Shameless Burlesque will play host, and there will even be a pinup pageant.

Art After Dark at the Norton Museum
5 p.m. Norton Museum, 1451 S. Olive Ave. West Palm Beach. The event is the cost of admission, $12 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children under five and museum members. Visit Norton.org.

The Norton Museum opens its doors, sets up a live band, and allows guests to stroll the galleries and grounds with drinks in hand to the sounds of David Shelley and Bluestone at Art After Dark. If you have never been, the third Thursday of the month is the perfect time to start, because this one happens to be Sketchbook Thursday. Guests are invited to bring their sketchbooks -- or the museum will loan you paper and pencils -- and draw either the "assignment" for the evening, the art on the walls, the patrons or the other sketchers or, frankly, whatever catches their fancy. This month there will be a live model who will move through a series of poses lasting about 15 minutes each.

There's a guided tour of Sylvia Plimack Mangold: Landscape and Trees that begins at 5:30 p.m., and a  tour of the Annie Leibovitz exhibition at 6:30 p.m. The museum's Cafe 1451 is offering a three course prix-fixe dinner and two-for-one happy hour.
