So, for the thrifty folks hunting for a party, here's a list of five New Year's Eve events that won't leave you penniless on the first day of 2013.
Propaganda's First Annual New Year's Eve J Street Block Party. With Lavola, Everymen, Bonnie Riot, Howling Winds, and more. 11 a.m., 6 S. J Street, Lake Worth. Tickets cost $10. Children under 12 are free. All ages welcome.
There's so many bands playing this event, it's absolute insanity. It's almost a little ridiculous to call it a party when it's in fact an entire New Year's Eve festival. For those on the hunt for a family friendly event, this is for you. During the day there will be face painting, bounce houses, a magic show, and lots more. Throughout the day there will be all sorts of live music. Kicking off at 11 in the morning, (yes, it'll run for over 12 hours) we won't be surprised if more than a few people don't make it until midnight.
Millionyoung, Boxwood, and the Riot Act. With DJs Andie Sweetswirl, Esoteric, and Damask of JAMS. 9 p.m. at the Green Room, 109 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $5 or $25 for open bar from 9p.m. to midnight. Ages 21 and up.
Our friends at the Green Room really know how to throw a cheap effin' New Year's Eve party. For a mere five bucks, you get to see some great live music, take in some art, and play a few rounds of video games. And obviously, dance your ass off. Just in case you feel like coughing up an extra 20 bones (which is basically nothing on NYE) you'll be able to partake in a three-hour open bar. Can't go wrong with that.
Oh, and you might want to bring a helmet because apparently at the stroke of midnight, 1000 bouncy balls will be dropping from the ceiling.
