Ross Perot Used Patsy Cline's "Crazy" and Other Presidential Candidate's Funny Entrance Songs

During election time, political pundits love to analyze really idiosyncratic details about the presidential candidates. Y'know, stuff like body language and number of pauses between sentences. All of this under the guise of real, pertinent insider information that will legitimately influence your vote. For some people, this shit is important.

But of all the minute behavioral patterns they're analyzing, one detail hardly gets the attention we think it deserves: The entrance music!

Seriously, nothing notes where a candidate is at on the out-of-touch barometer like the song they choose to walk out to before speaking publicly. Some are classics, some are obvious, and some just don't make any goddamn sense. Take a look back at a few we remember fondly or with confusion.

Barack Obama
"Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" by Stevie Wonder

A '70s soul record that can be politically interpreted in so many different ways. Yet, in the context of Barack Obama, and just general presidential rhetoric, this is a real sincere act of vulnerability. Instead of initiating the obvious, conscious power role of a capital-P President, it aims for a more democratic approach, making America the one who's running this shit. Pretty sweet and heartfelt if you think about it.

"Round of Applause" by Waka would've been fine, though.

John McCain
"Barracuda" by Heart

As you'd probably imagine, this tune didn't go far with the 2008 Repubs. One play at that year's Republican National Convention and Heart pretty much said "fuck that." Especially since the whole thing was in reference to Sarah Palin's teenage nickname (but she's more a praying mantis than a barracuda, let's be real).

Kinda feel bad for McCain on this one since a lot of musicians wanted to have nothing to do with him. These include ABBA (not even ABBA), John Mellencamp, and Boston. Bummer.
