Fame doesn't happen overnight; patience is a key component of success. And few MCs have been as tolerant over the years with the fickle music industry as Yo Gotti.

In January, the Memphis-based rapper dropped his major label debut, Live From the Kitchen, on RCA. It was three years past due. "I always like to be on deck," Gotti recently told New York City radio's The Breakfast Club. Gotti was on the Power 105.1 morning show promoting the Road to Riches tour. He cryptically discussed his dissatisfaction with his current label Polo Grounds. He admitted that he's contractually restricted from unloading the arsenal of music he's amassed throughout his ten-year tenure in the rap game, which is a shame for fans.

But he perseveres and thrives. "If you got the right situation with the right team, maybe it will work," he said. "Mentally and physically, I'm doing what I do."

And that means touring, dropping mixtapes, and "keep the bread moving" as best he knows how.

Yo Gotti. Friday, August 17, 10 p.m., Revolution Live, 100 SW 3rd Ave, Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $40 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.
