Cat Power Comes to Miami; Grand Central Show Announced
It's like she's grown up in front of our eyes. When she was young, it was all angsty parties and drugs, but once the songstress cleaned up, her indie fame spread from the Poplife stage to the iPods of your parents and yuppie friends. But her fanbase didn't just grow to include the typical geriatric crowd. Karl Lagerfeld was so inspired by her that he placed her pretty face in magazines all over the world. She's not an indie goddess gone boring; Cat Power is an enduring force in music.
Marshall once called Miami home, and so it'll be a return for her when she performs this October 11 at Grand Central. The fall tour will promote Sun, her first release since 2008's Jukebox.
The album features all original material that was written, performed, recorded, and produced by Marshall herself. It's set to be released on September 3, and the teaser "Ruin" (below) sounds much more like a dance track than her prior work, so dust off those dancing shoes before pressing that play arrow down there.
Cat Power at 8 p.m. October 11 at Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. Tickets cost $25 in advance and go on sale on Saturday, August 10.
