Five Events in Broward and Palm Beach This Weekend Under $5

Categories: Things To Do
As Debbie Deb once smartly sang, "Lookout weekend 'cause, here I come/Because weekends were, made for fun." These freestyle pearls of wisdom should ring in your ears this Friday the 13th as you prepare for fun and not a visit from Jason Voorhees.

While you watch the clock waiting for 5 p.m. to roll around, pump up the volume on Ms. Deb, and take a gander at our list of five things to do this weekend that are perfectly fitting for these economic times.

Black Fridays Presents: The Art of Tattoo II. Friday, July 13, 10 p.m., at Green Room, 109 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free.
The popular Goth night returns with a second installment of its tattoo art show series. Sway your way around the Green Room to the sounds of Depeche Mode while you check out the works from local tattoo artists like Pooch, Adam Facenda, Philip Carlucci, and more. For more info click here.

Necrophiles. Friday, July 13, 9 p.m., at Five Points Lounge, 2608 S. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauerdale. Admission is $5.
It's Friday the 13th, people! Get a little spooky with the zombie surff sounds of the Necrophiles. Also performing is the two-piece acoustic group Krueller and Evan Rowe (formerly of Catalonia) as Rev. Evan and the Church of JCMF. Chug some $2 PBRs and $4 craft beer all night long. For more info click here.

Retro Reels: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Friday, July 13, 10 p.m., at Cinema Paradiso, 503 SE Sixth Street, Fort Lauderdale. Admission is by suggested donation of $3.
The psychedelic visuals of Drippy Eye Projections will be doing a special liquid light show that's going to have you scrambling to call your acid connections. Local band Worthless provides the soundtrack for the evening. After, the night features the handsome duo Johnny Depp and Benecio del Toro doing a ton of blow in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. We seriously won't judge you if munch mushrooms beforehand. For more info click here.

Tate's Not at Comic-Con 2012. Saturday, July 14, Noon to 3 p.m., at Tate's Comics, 4566 N. University Drive, Lauderhill. Admission is free.
Nerdy-con season is in full swing. With the mother of all of these type events out in San Diego, this makes for a bunch of sad Floridian geeks. That's where Tate's comics swoops in to save the day. Instead of drying up your tears with your arch-nemesis' comic book, stop by Tate's for a day catered to the fantasies of cos players, gamers, and fellow nerds. Cherry on the nerd sundae: There's even going to be a parade. For more info click here.

Vintage Estate Sale. Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 123 S. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach. Admission is free.
Vintage enthusiasts, get your wallets ready, because this estate sale is not to be slept through. House of Vintage (RIP) owner Michelle Parparian is clearing out her stock of goodies from yesteryear like clothing, shoes, furniture, books, and more. Who knows what glamour you might find?
