Face eating is a crime.
If you're such a baby that you still sleep with the lights on and even SpongeBob gives you nightmares, then you'd be like me, too frightened to go to Splatter-Rama. This double feature of horror and gore just might make you poop your scaredy-pants. The premiere screening of the monthly event is taking place Sunday at Cinema Paradiso, hosted by Blindspot Productions and Radio-Active Records.

"I grew up on gory horror films in the '80s," says Mikey Ramirez of Radio-Active Records, admitting, "I was fascinated by the mechanics of special effects make-up, and at one point, I considered going to Joe Blasco's Make-Up Effects school to pursue a career in that field.

"I admired people like Tom Savini, Dick Smith, Rob Bottin and other make-up effects artists who made the impossible happen on the big screen, way before CGI and computer-generated effects dominated the market." One might call him a purist. "There is something timeless about the low-tech approach to these films that required hours of preparation, casting, moulds, karo syrup, etc. It was all in good fun."

Fun and ugly. This week, they're showing Blood Feast and The Return of the Living Dead, which will also be screened outside for the smokers. They've thought of everything, these guys. There's a movie swap during intermission, full liquor bar, and live entertainment from Armageddon Man, featuring ex-members of AC Cobra and The Groovenics. On the Slide food truck and Munch Cakes will provide horror themed menus. The invite on Facebook even says: "We are going to eat you." Too soon? Too soon.

Ramirez shared with us a few of his favorite horror films. Get ready to taste some fear after the jump.
