You may have noticed, two things we like to write about here at County Grind are South Florida hip-hop act ¡Mayday! and music videos created by Julian Yuri Rodriguez. If you pick up a hard copy of the New Times Broward Palm Beach, you'll see Jacob Katel's article on the group revealing some of their tour diary madness akin to face-eating zombie shit. We showed you Rodriguez' Pool Party video for "Raised By Wolves" featuring a howling guitarist who has difficulty pissing in the toilet, and more recently, his not totally safe for work O'Grime video "Intimacy" as part of Mollygang.
These two forces against nature came together with Borscht Film Festival's Lucas Leyva as executive producer to create the video for "Roaches." It features Sylvester, an Overtown man who loves his kitties and his ladies, some of whom also appear as the backdrop to this song, which, coincidentally, isn't about brown bugs with hard shells. This is a different kind of rap video, one that shows women and men engaged in sexual, domestic, and drug related situations, but real ones, stripping away the glitz, and displaying the grit of this area of the world in which we live.
