Five Things To Do Tonight That Have Absolutely Nothing To Do With Valentine's Day
| Get free pool, free cocktails (for ladies!), and acoustic music at the Speak Easy. |
How about an open mic (or two)?
Check out Turn Town Tuesday at the Speak Easy Lounge in Lake Worth. This is technically a booked open mic, for some quality control -- four featured acoustic music performers are scheduled for the evening, but sign-ups are open starting at 8 p.m. for performance slots before and after. Pool is free, and ladies even get two free drinks from 9 to 10 p.m. Click here.
Elsewhere in Palm Beach County, Dada also offers a Tuesday-night open mic. Click here. Admission to both open mics is is free.
Reggae Unplugged
In West Palm, catch more unplugged music, this time of the reggae-ish variety. Brett Staska, frontman of local act Roots Shakedown, plays an acoustic set of roots reggae-inspired tunes at the Blind Monk. Admission is free. Click here.
Lake Worth Soul
At the South Shores Tavern, you can catch Lake Worth-birthed band Heidi and the El Cats, a sweet act specializing in acoustic soul and bluesy roots music. There's no cover. Click here.
Big Easy Blues
Local performer Sista Marybeth offers a powerfully piped take on singer-songwriter, blues, and Americana-type fare at the Big Easy in Hollywood. Yes, things are bound to get a little sultry, but the focus here will be on music, not on V-day gimmicks. Admission is free. Click here.
