Twilight Notes' "Dialect" Event Moves to Museum of Art

For close to three years, Brew Urban Cafe has been regularly transformed into something of an art-crowd clown car, with art-loving folks packed in and spilling out of its doors and into the street to enjoy a night of art, music, and hanging out put on by the DJ collective Twilight Notes.

The wildly popular "Dialect" event has always been an occasion -- monthly in the beginning, now several times a year -- for art appreciation and uplifted mingling. Now, the location itself is being elevated from the street by the railroad tracks to the terrace at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. "The move was just a natural progression," says Twilight Notes owner and DJ Adam Foster. "'Dialect' had been getting a little big to stay at Brew, and the terrace at the museum is a beautiful location, literally in the middle of the city."

Twilight Notes has teamed up with All Together Now, the MoA's group of young members, to make this happen. The theme for the event is, appropriately, "movement." The show is set to feature artwork, sounds, and people, all in motion, flowing together.

Creating this aesthetic will be video from artists such as Brinson Renda, Kyle Walling, John Rasmussen, Peter Symons, and Jillian Mayer; installation and interactive performance art from Luke Jenkins; and dance showcases and ciphers throughout the event to the sounds from DJs Adam Foster of Twilight Notes and Stell*r, Soul Harmony, and Brendan Eldom from Oceans Deep.

After things wrap up at the museum, the party will move down the road to YOLO, where Foster has recently started working as entertainment director.

"Being at the museum means stepping up our game," says Foster. If history is any indicator of what that will mean for this event, the young art clowns... err, crowd has reason to be very excited. And the next event will be the official three-year anniversary of "Dialect." So expect another great party around the bend (the proverbial "bend," not Tarpon Bend).

"Dialect: Movement," featuring Twilight Notes and Oceans Deep. 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, at Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale, 1 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free. Click here.
