Download: Anthony Green's AGBDEP; Culture Room Show Saturday

​As the frontman of Saosin and then Circa Survive, Anthony Green stood out immediately in sound and sensibility. His two bands came up from a certain mid-'00s post-hardcore scene that welcomed Green but in which he was essentially still a misfit. With an unabashed love for proggy, experimental musical tinkering and a high, adenoidal wail, Green never bothered with the scene's requisite loud-soft, loud-soft dynamics.
As a solo act, unsurprisingly, Green has gotten progressively weirder and completely unconstrained by simple genre categories. For proof, check out the cast list of his latest album, Beautiful Things, released January 17. Guest stars include the Deftones' Chino Moreno right alongside Norwegian indie chanteuse Ida Maria.

Still, for yet another side of Green, check out his recent five-song, free EP, dubbed AGBDEP. This finds him in totally acoustic territory, without effects or frills, showing he's not too shabby in the pure songwriting department either.
