Without even sitting down in a darkened theater, getting the feel of Ryan Gosling's enigmatic stunt-driving flick Drive is as simple as hearing the moody throngs of "Nightcall." Nothing like a robotic voice promising to "show you where it's dark" to send a cold prickle up your spine. The 2010 track by French electro house artist Kavinsky, featuring vocals by CSS singer Lovefoxxx, becomes stitched into the glistening fabric of Gosling's scorpion jacket. Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo and SebastiAn had a hand in its creation as well.

Of late, the track is a hot beat for enterprising MCs, such as Broward locals Dirty Dem and Protoman -- neither of whom are opposed to flipping pop culture for personal amusement. (See "Office Music" and "Gucci Gucci [Hipsters Remix].") "We liked this song and video so much we had to rap to it," the guys write on Bandcamp.

Both rhymers drop vivid verses about pulling heists and getting away quick with the muscular authority that comes from hours of playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and it's rugged out there. "Wearing grease like it's warpaint/Cologne is gasoline," Proto raps. Please buckle up, everyone.
