Local Bands: Let New Times Broward-Palm Beach Judge You at America's Backyard March 27

The headline is misleading because I'm already quietly judging you. In any case, your tireless Broward-Palm Beach Music Editor will be on hand March 27 at America's Backyard (200 E. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) to help judge a Battle of the Bands competition between 6 and 9:30 p.m. The best South Florida act of any genre, style or persuasion that graces the stage will not only get played at high volume in our office after hours, but will earn the right to play in front of thousands during the New Times' 13th annual Beerfest, April 17.

To enter: post a video, MP3, a link to your MySpace, or something that lets us know that you're for real at myspace.com/NewTimes and include the phrase "(Your Band's Name) Rocks the Yard" by Tuesday, March 23.

I will help the judges narrow it down to the best five entrants, who will each get to rock two songs in front of us during our Battle of the Bands on March 27. The Battle champion goes on to open up Beerfest on April 17.
