Phish Afterparties at White Room With Break Science, Boombox, and EOTO

Not to be outdone, White Room is hosting its own special events today through Wednesday, courtesy of Glitterglu Productions and Under One Beat Entertainment. The stand of shows is called "Black Curtains at the White Room," and are all electronic gigs -- the flyer bills the series as nights of dubstep, electro, and IDM. They're not cheap, either. Tickets to each show costs $15 in advance, $20 at the door. But considering that the parties will go late-late, as always at White Room, that's only a few bucks an hour. Here's the line-up.

Monday, December 28: Break Science

Break Science's diversity is clear from its line-up of upcoming shows. It's one of the few acts that can go from playing the Jam Cruise, to sharing the stage with RJD2 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Go figure. The band bills its style as a "live mix tape" traversing styles like trip-hop, dub, broken beat, drum 'n' bass (is this due for a comeback?), and hip-hop. Local support tonight comes from Afrobeta, Panthergod, and Kentsoundz.

Tuesday, December 29: Boombox

The Muscle Shoals, Aabama duo Boombox insists on just calling itself "rock and roll," and is the least purely electronic-sounding of any of the acts playing White Room this week. There are synthesizers and sequencers galore, but on record it sounds a lot like chilled-out funk. Local support comes from DJ Le Spam, because he was bound to turn up in all of this post-Phish madness, and Otto von Schirach, because it's White Room. Kind of a weird lineup -- Boombox is really chilled out. Will Otto freak out their fans? Oh, there are also scheduled sets by Miami expat DJ Par D.

Wednesday, December 30: EOTO

Definitely the biggest name playing here, and the most uptempo and dancefloor-friendly. If you don't know, it's Michael Travis and Jason Hann of the String Cheese Incident. And even if you HATED their old band, if you're into dance music, give EOTO a try. It's very club-kid friendly and completely un-jam-band-like. (BTW, the two will return to White Room on January 8 to play with String Cheese bandmate Kyle Hollingsworth, as well as Steve Kimock, in a one-off lineup called Holy Kimoto). The main supporting act tonight is quality as well: Atlanta-based IDM artist Richard Devine. Miami favorites the JeanMarie also play.
