Concert Announcements: Devildriver, Goatwhore, Sean Paul and Shaggy

​Remember Coal Chamber? Yeah, didn't think so, but they were a Nu Metal band in the mid 90s that disbanded due to "creative differences." Frontman Dez Fafara decided he wanted to do a little less Nu Metal and a bit more death metal so he started Devildriver. Their first couple albums didn't exactly set the world on fire, but they have done something pretty cool. Two separate times, Devildriver has attempted to break the Guinness world record for largest circle pit. That record certainly won't be attempted during their February 6 show at Culture Room, but if there was a world record for most intense pit, this show could be in the running. Joining Devildriver are some of the heaviest metal bands playing today: Suffocation, Goatwhore, and Thy Will be Done. Tickets go on sale "soon" through Ticketmaster.

In more radio friendly music news, Sean Paul and Shaggy are playing Seminole Hard Rock Live on December 11.It's Jamaican Dancehall in all its glory with Sean Paul promoting his recently released Imperial Blaze and Shaggy hoping his new single "Fly High" gets the same type of hype that "Boombastic" did back in '95. Something awesome about these two artists that you might not know: They've taken up a hell of a cause recently. Shaggy and Sean Paul have been raising money for children's hospitals by throwing benefit concerts. This isn't one of those benefits, but it should make you feel better to give your money to artists who aren't all about wasting money on gaudy jewelry and fancy cars. Although there might be some of that going on too...
