Dangerflow to Play Benefit Show Tonight at Jazid

Categories: Concert Preview
dangerflow.jpgA couple weeks ago, Miami New Times introduced you to Dangerflow, the latest high-energy, multi - genre - fusion party band to score a coveted weekly residency at Jazid. Like fellow Jazid favorites Locos Por Juana, Dangerflow touches on cumbia and other Latin rhythms. But the addition of soul singer Eric Stinnett and MC/frontman Angel Ocean gives the group an added slick hip-hop vibe.

Although the group usually holds court at the club on Monday nights, tonight's gig is a special one for the band. It's a benefit for Mikey Stolzenburg, an eight-year-old in Weston who lost his limbs to a flesh-eating bacteria. Ocean first heard of Stolzenburg's plight on CBS 4's local news. "My band members and I were watching the news and we came across [the] story," Ocean says. "[It] touched us so deeply that we decided to do everything in our power to raise money for him to have new prosthetic limbs for Christmas/Hanukkah."
As such, all proceeds from the door go to Stolzenburg's family. A number of other local merchants are also collaborating. V.I.P. Productions is providing a sound engineer; Guitar Center is donating a back line; Rick Case Honda is donating money to support the costs of mounting the show.

Ocean has also set up another benefit show on December 18, at the Vagabond, for the same cause. Another local act, Dangerflow friends 2 a.m. Movement, will perform.
