This past Thursday, R&B singer Kelis was found not guilty in Miami on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. She was initially arrested last march for allegedly harassing two undercover police officers who were posed as prostitutes outside of a local club.

On Thursday, a judge determined that there was no evidence that Kelis interfered with a police investigation and cleared her on all charges. After being acquitted, Kelis used the opportunity to speak out against racial profiling. She's also in the works of filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the police department.

“Racial profiling is a very serious matter,” Kelis said in a statement released on Thursday. “Unfortunately, most victims learn to deal with this form of harassment in their daily lives because they feel that they don't have a voice or because they're not able to absorb the costs to legally fight it in court. I hope that this sheds light on the fact that wearing a uniform and carrying a badge does not allow you to act above the law."
