On The List - DJ Elle, LMFAO and Sébastien Léger
Miami's nightlife landscape in filled with many characters who make going out that much more interesting. They are always larger than life and are always shrouded in mystery. Perfect example is Miami's latest anomaly, the Unicorn King, a man who frequents the 14th Street area in Downtown Miami, yet no one knows anything about him -- but that's sort of half the fun.
If you are going to look of the single-horned creature, stop by the Vagabond (30 NE 14th Street, Miami) for Money Shot. Tonight, DJ Elle (Turntable Lab/NYC) will be spinning her signature blend of hip-hop and pop with an indie sound sensibility. DJs Induce and Mike Deuce, along with special guest DJ DS, will also be there to keep the music going.
Friday at Mansion (1235 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach), products of the Los Angeles electro scene, duo LMFAO -- which stands for "Laugh My Fucking Ass Off" -- will have you thinking WTF when they perform live their brand of electro/hip-hop. The timing seems appropriate, as their latest release Party Rock features the song "I'm In Miami Bitch."
Gen Art director Monica Glass leaves the Magic City for the City of Angels for a new position within the organization. It will be sad to see her go, seeing how she's responsible for some of the city's most talked about events like Shop Miami and the Fresh Faces in Fashion Show. The Vagabond will send off Glass with a farewell party during Back Door Bamby Saturday. DJs Juan Mejia, Ray Milian, Ryan Evans and more will provide the soundtrack for the night.
French house DJ Sébastien Léger stops by Set (320 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach) for its Sundance party. Léger has been on the house music scene for almost a decade, remixing for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Kylie Minogue, Larry Tee, Duran Duran, Groove Armada and more along the way.
